It appears that the only issue with LVTTL is whether the IC is designed to handle the output from a standard TTL (5V) chip when it is at a high level. The link that I gave in my earlier post, http://www.quicklogic.com/images/quicknote92.pdf,
is an inelegant way of handling this interface. It would be a better solution to use appropriate buffer chips.
