I just had a quick look at the table on pg 2-30 of the MAXII device handbook dated March 2004 (there may be a later version by now.) and it indicates that, with a series resistor, an input can tolerate the 5-volt level. It can also apparently drive a TTL-level (HCT), but not a CMOS (HC)level. I suspect that will meet your needs.
These devices apparently have clamping diodes when using PCI levels and the internal clamping diode provided by the EPM1270. Another alternative might be to use a 74S1053 clamping diode array, which will enable you to drive your CPLD's VCCIO level and clamp to that voltage as well, using a pullup at the 805x to ensure you reach the required levels at the MCU.
