Thanks to Kory and Erik. i visited the pages refered by Kory. very useful, but again i am confused whether to for such devices or go for external ADC.

My requirement is 8 channel analog input and 8 channel analog output (PWM). The data to be transmitted to PC through RS232.

speed requirement is minimum 2000 conversions per sec. any device matches this. and is it possible to transmit the data (12bits X 8 channels ) through RS232. at what baud rate i should transmit. how to calculate the baud rate for this.

before starting the project i want to clarify whether it is possible with 8051 ?
