#9653 - RE: NVRAM /vs/ EEPROM |
Hi Erik,
yes, the likelyhood is the same. E.g. I used former an 80C31 with external EPROM, which must be encapsulated in a metal case to work reliable. But now I use the 89C51 with internal Flash and need no longer the metal case. But the more dangerous case was the crazy behavior of the micro during power off or power on. You need a carefully pcb design and a powerful supervisor circuit to protect the NVRAM during this states. E.g. I use the DS5000 for development purposes and it seems, it contain already all needed devices to work reliable. But for pratical usage I prefer the cheaper way and connect the 24C64 over 2 lines and I have never lost any data. Peter |
