There are lots of programmer's on the Internet which can program the AT89C55. It is not as obsolete as what other's have told you. If you consider the knowledge and experience you will gain then it would be worth the price of building it. The software available for such a programmer is written in SDCC which makes it very easy to modify for other projects you will come across down the road. The hardware knowledge you gain building such a programmer will also reward you in other areas design. The ISP programmers teach you very little about software and hardware. Basically you become an Idiot who can hook up a serial or parallel cable and stick a chip in a socket and program a MPU IC. You can buy a state of the art AT89CXX/AT89Cxxxx programmer from this company. http://www.sunrom.com It is based upon Wichit Sirichote design and hardware. It is very economical. They will even sell you the printed circuit board and a preprogrammed 89C52 IC for a low price. Mr. Wichit Sirichote, kswichit@kmitl.ac.th is a great design expert with much published software and hardware. He has published many project using the 89C2051. You would do well to study him. He is in my opinion the "MOZART" of embedded processors. Regards, Charles Bannister |
