#98087 - Atmel CAN Responding to: ???'s previous message |
Hi Steve,
I've been using the Atmel AT89C51CC03, with 64KB ISP flash and built-in CAN controller, for some SAE J1939 databus projects. J1939 is the successor to the older J1708/J1587 databus used on trucks and busses. My biggest problem with it was learning CAN and J1939, then trying to apply what I was learning to the 'CC03. The 'CC03 was developed in France, the datasheet is poorly written with numerous errors and some of their example programs didn't quite get translated completely. I've spent quite a bit of time with an Atmel manager who is from France and better able to get the information and datasheet corrections I needed. Atmel has been correcting the datasheet, but some errors I pointed out a year ago are still there. This chip is a 6-clocker, and their explanations of how X2 works was anything but clear. I ended up redrawing some of the diagrams so I could make sense of things. Nice chip though, in spite of the datasheet. Oleg uses these parts too, so he should be able to supply additional information. Dennis |
