#99261 - two reasons, two replies, please reread Responding to: ???'s previous message |
Boring is beautiful, why try to make a square wheel when a round one exist.
..because new insights come from playing with ideas. but by the time it has to do two or three the circuit complexity would make me reach for an LPC micro, for a commercial project at least. two reasons, two replies, please reread my post. I specifically stated that "it is boring to make" was NOT a reason to invent a square wheel. Had the OP stated "I want to add features" the reply would have been very different. My reaction, I believe, to a large extent comes from the awful stuff I have seen from those that tried to make simple, mundane code "exciting and new". There is absolutely nothing wrong with working your @$$ off to make something "fantastic" if such an effort is required, but trying to make a simple C (OK, or Pascal) function that does the work well enough "exciting" will lead to a) disastrous results and b) (most important) less time spent on things that actually shuld have a real effort applied to them. I do not know the OP, but something in the post pulled my mind to the most awful programmer I ever employed (he was there when I got hired). Erik |
