Hi Erik,
Thanks for pointing out some other external UART chips. I didn't know they existed until today :-) This might be a viable option if I can't reasonably write code for a software UART. In regards to using the already used built-in UART, I really wanted to be able to send different information then whats displayed on the LCD. I also don't want issues with having two devices sending information to the 2051 at the same time (ie, barcode scanner and the computer). As for no free timers, could I use the timer for the built in UART also for a software UART? Having the same buad rate for both isn't an issue. Thanks, J Silverman |
