Actually, that's not right. There are 3 possible causes of your problem:

1. Your hardware isn't working properly;
2. Your software isn't working properly;
3. Neither your hardware nor your software is working properly.

You need to adopt a systematic approach to find which it is!

Note that "working properly" means "working in accordance with the MT8980's requirements" - so the first thing to do is to check your hardware & software against the MT8980 Datasheet and other supporting information from Zarlink.
This is checking for any design errors.

The next step is to check for implementation errors - faulty components, faulty/broken hardware construction, software coding errors, etc.
