Hobby and learning opportunity. It would also be useful in demonstrating that you don't need 2GB of RAM and 1.5GHz to make a useful (for some applications) computer.
no "loaded program '51 based computer" needeed, just dig out your old 10 MHz PC with 640k, load up DOS and see the pig fly. I often wonder what kind of ignorance/indifference/whatever makes the developers of PC stuff succeed in making apps for a 2GHz machine run slower than the (OK, not exactly identical, but) similar app ran on a 10 MHz machine. Another irony is that all that speak of 'green' PCs is oblitterated by every new version of the OS (Windows AND Linux) requiring a PC that uses 2-4 times as much power. Erik |
