#10101 - New to MCU's - Need Help in Selection |
Microcontrollers are new to me and I am working on a project and could use some advice.
I am looking for one with 8 12-16 bit ADC's (prefer 16 bit), up to 10V analog input (I can divide the analog down if I have to, especially if a 16 bit ADC), want to drive a 5 digit array of LED's, or a 14x2 or so LCD, and aside from the output lines needed for the display would like to have about 30 I/O lines remaining. As I said I'm new to all this and have done some intensive searching and the best match I can find so far is the Cygnal C8051F000. My concern with this one is the max analog voltage. They say it can be up to Vref, external, and Vref, external can be no more than Va. What is Va? There is a superb page on this site about hooking up an LCD display which has swayed me from LED's (as I like prepackaged "kits") but I am afraid of running out of I/O lines. I will need the full 8 data lines for all alphanumerics, 3 control, leaving 21 unsed I/O. I guess I could get by with that. TIA |
