If your MCU is in a PLCC package, you can socket the part in standard through hole sockets.
If its in TQFP, you can get small boards that you can solder your package too and then route it again with standard through hole techniques. At work, we regularly make our own prototype boards with a simple laser printer, for TQFP track rules (<0.020"), so you could brew your own board if you wanted. The fully integrated MCU saves a lot of PCB work. Steve |
