#101268 - null modem cable
Responding to: ???'s previous message
the type of cable needed will be dictated by the speed you want to reliably use and the distance between pc and controller. If it's only for a few metres, and in a relatively noise-free environment, you can get away with just about anything, provided you keep the speed at or below 9600 bps.

Beware: above is not guaranteed, just my experience.

I'd say you can use CAT-5 and you do not necessarily have to care about the pairs, if you stick to a distance of a few metres and a speed of max 9600 bps.

If it is for a noisy production environment, I would check the standard. See if it defines anything with respect to cable types and such.
