I have looked at the module from http://www.embeddedethernet.com/, and I think this could be the answer to my problem.

The only problem I have is no experiance with the atmel AT90S8515, and the assembler program I downloaded is not easy for me to follow as I am not familiar with the instruction set.

Has anyone converted this program to the 8051 ?

RE usb what is the max cable length ? as if I need extended distances with 10baseT I just wack it into a fiber interface.
