Gil, I do not mean, I have experienced many times! Often an embedded project is done in a mainly mechanical environment and the HR and or Engineering Manager do not know computers beyond autoCAD and solitaire. They look for the cheapest person that say (s)he can do the job and any new college graduate sees embedded as "small easy stuff". In one situation I were required to do the schematic in autoCAD becuse that was "the standard for drawings".
I have gotten most jobs lately by word of mouth, if you go the newspaper route, you will see that most offers are priced as "small easy stuff". The human is not programmed to understand that it takes more skill to program a $1 micro than a $1000 PC.
Now, in all fairness I must tell you that there are exceptions to the rule but they are few and far between.
