#120416 - You really ARE nuts, aren't you, Erik!
Responding to: ???'s previous message
I know there IS such a thing as an 8051 because I have some of them.

I don't know why you insist on making such bombastic (and misleading) statements as this, but, so long as the ones I have exist, I KNOW that there are such things. There are also 8052's, BTW, and I have some of them as well. If it doesn't have an Intel copyright emblem on it, however, it's NOT a true 805x. It may look alike and it may even work alike, though that's wandering into some gray area, but unless it is a genuine Intel-licensed part, it's NOT a true 805x.

Just to keep facts straight, the one and ONLY 8051 is the i8051 made by Intel and by those licensed to do so by them. The others that may, in the opinion of some, be similarly classified, should, in fact, be identified with the proper nomenclature.

Now this thread is undoubtably a plea from someone to get one among us to do his thinking and, ultimately, his work for him, and was specified by an instructor who hasn't yet awakened to the market realities of today, but so long as there exists one device with that Intel-mask-generated die in it, there IS an 8051, and I don't intend to destroy mine anytime soon.
