#12472 - RE: looking for opinions
Hi Bobby,

Assuming you are a beginner.

You can only seek guidence from other's experience and direct yourself.

HLL or assembler. Look at the survey results at this site. People with assembler always outnumber those with HLL. Its a powerfull indicative.

I can tell you my experience.

I absolutely don't know any HLL.

I started in assembly and for more that three years I am still only with it.

My projects have started finding there way and place in the market and have attained a commercial level and value.

I might still be falling behind many those who know HLL and I might be have undiagnosed shortcomings which will reveal only when I start with HLL also.

Point is that do not jump to HLL directly. The objective is not just doing Gimmickery in 8052 but also to understand the Micro as such which is better and conveniently possible if one starts with assemblly. You can always learn HLL later any time. With only assembly you will not be behind anyone.

I would qoute Steve's point that one should develop the concepts of programing the language is of a secondary value.

I think I have made my point.

Simon
