In case it isn't obvious, there are other considerations besides just the average CPU utilization that everyone seems to be talking about. For example, suppose that some particular section of your program absolutely must, without fail, execute in 50 microseconds or less. If it actually takes 49, then you're right on the edge of not having enough horsepower, even though the CPU may on the average be idle for 99% of the time.
So Yu, can you describe the system that you want to measure? Can you explain to us why you want to meaasure the CPU usage? Are you sure the average usage is what you really care about? You need to make sure you're measuring what is important in your system. -- Russ |
