Or by other words, the Faraday cage formed by the metal enclosure of device is extended over the whole cable "harness", when the cable shields are connected to the chassis grounds at both ends. In parallel (and in closest distance(!)) to the shielded cables you can additionally install fat parallel earth cables (PEC) to carry the higher currents, so that the shielded cables are prevented from burning...
