The OP was specifically talking about using the synthesizer chips used in 1980's 8-bit home computers, like the legendary SID used in the C64/C128.
Neither the processors nor the synthesizer chips did much "DSP" - it was an analog synthesizer controller by a "simple" 8-bit microprocessor. |
