#129903 - Yes DSP. Responding to: ???'s previous message |
Gutten Tag Christoph,
Eric wrote: I am very interested in chiptune music, .... However, I'm at a loss as to which hardware I could use .... In the Wikipedia article he cited, regarding chipmusic, read The medium gave composers great flexibility in creating their own "instrument" sounds, but because early computer sound chips had only simple tone generators and noise generators, it also imposed limitations on the complexity of the sound; chiptunes sometimes seem "harsh" or "squeaky" to the unaccustomed listener. Since Eric specifically said that he was interested in chipmusic, not just the nostalgia of the retro hardware in which it was born, and since he specifically queried about which hardware he should use today, I stand behind suggesting that he learn all he can about DSPs. I have no doubt that he will be able to do more, and do it better, with a modern day DSP than he ever could with 1980s technology. I haven't looked, but I'd bet that TI may well have application notes to this very application in their online library. |
