#13080 - RE: Use of English
Excellent this article of ny times ! This phonema is old, just is faster now because the world is so small. I have some icq friends in china, there they speak "chinglish", not "singlish". Phrases without verbs is common in this "language", but one can understand.... and they say "la" instead of "lah". A chinese friend told me the until now so popular phrase "long time no see" is back from the times of the "run for the gold" in california.

The article refers to the "english changing to an indeginous language". I agree... example: "me food" . Again, no verb

I live in brasil. The language here is portuguese. Where i live (in the south), everybody understands (and speaks) PORTUÑOL, when speaking with a person of an spanish speaking country, a mix between spanish and portuguese...

And one thing more.... There is a music rhythm called "FORRĂ“", played by the brasilian northeast people. Brasil hired an english company to build a railway in northeast, in the beginning of the 20th century. Then, the english workers always did parties that they claimed the party was "FOR ALL"... got it ? :o)

About the main subject, i speak with some people in honk-kong that has a VERY VERY bad english, but unspected as one could think, they know ALL abbreviations, and write "u r" "c u tom" and "b4" all the time.

that's all

victor
