Hi Chris,

That's the way I'll do.

1. I'll try with 9600,8,n,1 first,and I'll send 0xAA or 0x55 only as a start( because you can check the bit timing easily this way).

2. Make sure the PC works, ie use another known good source to test the PC.

3. Check the signal coming from your hardware, ie timing and voltage level with a CRO. You should be able to see the bit pattern.

4. If this works, you can change to mode 3.
