#135526 - where do you see that??? Responding to: ???'s previous message |
which you simply waive away with a DO NEVER
I said "you just opened up a can of worms with a post about self-modifying code." Simply because that is one of the most hotly argumented subjects I know of. I recall an episode from the old slow days where I had to make a $500,000 machine with a SUE minicomputer live up to the specs. The only way to achieve the speed (200k chars/sec) was to use self-modifyeing code and I, finally, got the required speed. I were then reassigned to another task and the one that wa assigned maintenance of what I just had dome, declared "you can't do that" promply removed all self-modifying code and then asked me "how did you get the speed?"
