#139329 - using a programmer...

can AT89S52 be program using usb port? how?

William,

the answer is of course yes, however, be prepared, that the solution is not trivial (i.e. not consisting of one or two 74xxx-s and a couple of resistors).

Besides commercial device programmers, it should be possible to use those "amateur" programmers which are based on a microcontroller and connect to PC via COM port - then, any commonly available USB-to-COM "cable" can be used for them (alternatively, a USB-to-serial chip can be already integrated on the board). An example of such is biprog, but there are numerous similar on the web.

Please don't attempt to use an USB-to-LPT cable, these simply won't work for this purpose.
