What do you mean by "programmable"?


I mean if there are free tools for linux to programm the flash and to compile the code.

For example, there are a lot tools for AVR mcu. Avrdude for write the flash and avr-gcc for compiling the code (under linux).

I could also put FreeDOS on my old notebook. But I would prefer to work with SDCC on Linux and to write the flash under linux.

Any suggestions which chip could work for my needs?
(It`s difficult, Perhaps it`s better to switch to avr)
