#140784 - 8052.com SBC Eprom problem |
I have searched the forum and have not found any posts relating to this situation. On the 8052.com SBC is an Eprom socket and the silk screen legend indicates it is for a 27C256 (32k x 8) or 27C512 64k x 8) eprom, jumper selectable. Looking at the documentation and the artwork on the board, the largest eprom can only be 16k x 8 since address line A14 (pin 27) is tied to ground and A15 (pin 1) is jumper selectable between Vcc and gnd.
I am trying to use the SBC as a controller for a scrolling LED message board and will need a lot of eprom space for the character fonts. Each font will require 2048 locations which will allow for 32 fonts on a 27C512 eprom. I'm probably going to have to "modify" the SBC to provide the two high order address bits to the eprom. I'm just curious if anyone else has come across this situation? Hal |
