#142680 - changing lcd 128x64 to serial |
Hello,
I am running out of IO pins in my new project. I am thinking of converting lcd to serial one. I want to use 2 74595 or similar shift registers, soldered directly on lcd module. I will put D0-D7, RW, DI, RST and CS1,CS2 signals on shif res. E signal (and maybe also CS1,CS2) will be connected directly to 8052. This way I will control LCD using 3 lines for shift register (clock, data, strobe) + E line and maybe CS1, CS2. Will this type of connection slow down lcd? I mean now I need some more time to write data to display. Since 128x64 does not have internal font generator there is a lot of data to be transfered. Will this work in reasonable speed? Has anyone any suggestion or experience with this? Commercial serial lcd's are not good since this is a low cost project. best regards, Damjan |
