#145423 - the prefix is misleading in Intel parts! Responding to: ???'s previous message |

The number looks more like a Philips part number, though it probably has an Intel copyright label. IIRC, Intel preceded its part numbers with an 'i'. Intel used a number of different marking schemes, but, at least in the last 10 years when I was involved in buying certain Intel parts, the prefix indicated package and other options which most manufacturers indicate in suffix - and the "i", if it was before the marking, was there merely as a logo. An overview of the marking is on the Tekmos site, scroll down for "Intel Prefix Codes" table. I am sure I have seen a similar table directly on Intel's site but cannot find it now - those pages are really a mess. P is merely indicating a PDIP package here... JW |
