I have developed a handful of custom applications under the 2K limit. Customers love it when you can give them a floppy with their source code, and a CD with the compiler so they can build it themselves if they need changes later.
I don't think it is really fair to call the Keil demo "Crippled." I would say "Limited," but that is just my opinion. Note: Self-serving plug below... All you need is an 8K EEPROM selected by A13=0, and code loaded to 4000H will also be loaded at address 0.
