Some debuggers use the 0xA5 undefined instruction as a software breakpoint.
These work by replacing the user code at the specified breakpoint address with the 0xA5 instruction - thus causing a break. For single stepping, such systems just replace the next instrucion with a 0xA5. Obviously, this requires writable code mempory! |
