I'd expect the motors to draw more that 5A, especially when they stall at the end of the windows travel, many vehicles use thermal cutouts instead of fuses for protection because of this.
Practically I have the driver arrangement shown initially in this post, it's the same as the manufacturers use for manual switches as it reduces the amount of wiring, and it's very easy to add additional switches, mine however drives the relays via ULN2803's as I have other relays for central locking control on the same board. I have used this arrangement for many automotive motors, and with different processors 8051, eZ8, PIC, all ok, are you trying to use P0 (I think) as it would need pullups to work. Rich |
