If you were lucky, you might find an example listing printed in a book or magazine; but you'd have to type it in yourself by hand - none o' this just downloading samples direct from t' internet, or having it delivered straight to yer in-box.

And, of course, if you wanted a book or magazine, you had to get up and walk to t' bookshop or library to fetch it...!

Kids o' today - don't know they're born...
