you still have to mentally follow the calculation, the slapstick does not give you the decimal point. Actually learning to use and using the slapstick is, probably, the most efficient excersize in "fast mental calculations allowing a 10% error" which is THE way to know "is the result the calculator show reasonable?".
YES, even seasoned mental gymnasts may not detect an error of a few percent, but so what. If you calculate that a capacitor (not in an oscillator circuit) has to be 108nF do you go have a 108nF capacitor made? Where accuracy REALLY matters always calculate twice. Erik |
