#150085 - AVR compiler Responding to: ???'s previous message |
When we started building products based on AVRs, we had the same decision, should we use the IAR compiler for the AVR? Partly because of things like the new and (not) improved 8051 compiler, we decided to give CodeVision a try. After all, at $150 it was cheap enough.
I have always had great support from IAR for the 8051, in fact I've worked with the same tech support guy for over ten years. But with CodeVision, you're dealing with the guy who WROTE the compiler, and he gives good support via email and his Yahoo group. IAR might take months to provide an update to their compiler to fix something; Pavel often fixes things in CodeVision in days, as well as implementing user suggestions for improvements. Dennis |
