#155700 - It's all just data! Responding to: ???'s previous message |

Since a CAN network is already available, i would like to use it to send the file to MCS'51. That makes sense. But, of course, it means that you will have to implement all the necessary CAN protocol(s). Wanted to confirm if an Binary file can be sent and stored on the RAM of MCS'51. Yes - that was confirmed ages ago! As far as the 8051 is concerned, it's all just data - it makes no difference where it came from, how it got here, where it's going to, how it'll get there, or what it actually means. As far as the 8051 is concerned, it's all just a load of bytes that get written to and/or read from the RAM. how do i itimate the JAM player that a file has been sent and it needs to be executed. What "JAM player"? Surely, it must have an interface specification - and that must tell you what to do? As far as RS232 is concerned, the distance from PC to MCS will be large(more than 50 feet) as hence RS232 will not be successful(from the knowledge that I have). so a safer option is to use CAN. As Michael says, there are plenty of options available to extend RS232 over long distances. Are you really open to this as an option, or are you comitted to CAN? |
