"Modem" usually mean a complete, packaged product - just plug it into an RS232 port and go!
On the other hand, a "module" is just the bare electronics - and will require significant design effort to get it to a usuable state. I don't know if the OP specifically meant a "modem" in the above sense, or if a "module" will do. Obviously, the cost of a module alone will be significantly less than a full modem... Chaitanya Thummar needs to clarify this... |
