Kingbright's KP3216 series' green LEDs, for instance, come in several flavours. Two of them are:

KP3216CGCK, made of InGaAlP, showing a forward voltage drop of 2.1V typical and 2.5V maximum at 20mA current.

KP3216ZGC, from the same series but made of AlInGaN, showing at same conditions 3.3V typical and 4.1V maxium.

So, telling "give me a green LED from this series" can make a difference of 95%. If this isn't big...

So, a careful look into actual datasheet is heavily recommended.
