In Operating Systems on PCs, paging is a way to extend your memory (RAM) by saving chunks of memory (called pages) onto the hard disk when not needed, and then swapping them back in when and as required. This is also called Virtual Memory.
What i don't get is how is that possible in embedded systems? Do you actually write the stuff in RAM into the ROM or something? Or do you sort of cascade RAM chips? And why would we need so much memory anyway? Also how much of an overhead is it o page memory in microcontrollers? Kundi |
