Hi Erik,
breaking the 64kB barrier on the 8051 world was mostly named as banking. The only difference (except the size), banking was not direct supported by the 8051. So you need special hardware, which divide the 64kB direct adressable area into smaller pieces. One of these must be always the same to be able to serve interrupts and only the other was changeable by the bank selection procedure. Confusion completed ? Peter |
