#161274 - Isn't that more costly? Responding to: ???'s previous message |
Last time (admittedly some time ago) I attempted to find a small buffer RAM for use in a small system, I couldn't even find any 2KB SRAMs. However, I finally used 8 ns 32Kx8 parts that cost <$0.80. Can you name a way of getting 2 KB of SRAM on-chip for less than the cost of an 80-cent SRAM and an 8-bit latch?
Chip makers don't put SRAM on the chip because it is convenient for the designer. They do it to make money, hoping, perhaps, that someone will buy their more costly part because it's "easier" than using external memory. Keep in mind, too, that the O/P asked to find an EXTERNAL part. RE |
