#161279 - Cost is the problem!! Responding to: ???'s previous message |
Most of the 4K RAM chips cost 6$ plus. I am using 8051340 for one product, and it costs 6 USD approx. It has 4 K RAM. Now if I need another 4 K, then I will have to shell out 10 - 12 USD for the chip. Instead of that, if I can have 4K RAM, then I can easily add it to any chip and make the product cost effective. For a new project, I need 8052 (it costs less than 80 cents when it reaches me) but I just need more memory. But then the moment I add 5 more dollars to it, the product not longer makes sense. It is a bit confusing, considering the cost of 2GB DDR RAM. So I assumed that there must definitely be 4K/8K RAMS that cost less than a dollar, out somewhere. |
