#16242 - Keil Dongle is a pain in the B... |
Shamelessly cross-posting from the Keil forum:
I'm in the UK, using the Keil C51 toolset, and the Triscend E5. Being in Europe (or, should I say, outside the USA?) I have to use a "dongle" (hardware key) with the Keil tools. Far from being transparent, the Keil dongle seems to significantly mess-up the communication bewteen the parallel port and the Triscend JTAG. Keil's knowledge base article http://www.keil.com/support/docs/1788.htm suggests that this may not be an uncommon experience. Has anyone else experienced problems with the Keil dongle - particularly in connection with the Triscend E5? Any tips? PS I should be grateful if contributors would confine themselves to actual issues with actual dongles; if anyone wants to start a separate thread on the general philosophies of dongles, software protection, etc then please feel free - but please make it a separate thread! |
