Good point about byte reversal.
No, there are a huge number of polynomials possible, but most polynomials are no good. No sane person selects one randomly, and probably 99.9% of all 16-bit CRC uses either the "normal" or the CCITT polynomial in low-bit-first or high-bit-first version. There is the CRC16-DNP also, but not so much used. It's mainly for SCADA solutions. That was why I wrote "Most 16-bit CRC uses one of two polynomials." and not "All 16-bit CRC...". |
