How are you programming the flash memory of the AT89S52 ?
are you using an ISP programmer
or are you using an external Parallel 8051 programmer ?
In case of ISP the connection between RST(pin9) and the common point
of 10uF-10K should be broken and the RST be conected by a switch
either to ISP or the RC common point.

Since you are new to electronics try the step by step approach.
First try to conenct and use a button and a led and then try serial communications.
