who cares what happens if you drive an input below ground (or above Vcc). If you do so, you are either an 'experimenting' fool or just made a mistake. You are LUCKY if a protection/parasitic diode saves your chip from blowing and even if it does 'protect' you should replace the chip as it may be weakened. Parasitic diodes should ALWAYS be assumed, but WHO CARES, they only conduct if you go outside the limits in the datasheet. Erik LOL - didn't you notice the short-circuit? I would definitely care about a chip that replaces a protection diode with a short-circuit to ground... |
