I appreciate everyone's comments on the issue of advertising here in the message forum.
I also agree I need to clarrify (sp?) the policy. Currently, there isn't a specific policy because it hasn't been an issue in the past. I didn't shut down/delete the two ads mentioned because while they are advertisements and I'm wasn't entirely comfortable with that, they also provided possibly useful informaton to the 8052 community. I think that commercial messages posted in the forum will not be effective as an advertising campaign since they "scroll off" as new messages are posted. They do, however, provide information to the 8052 community. What do all of you think is appropriate? Should there be a complete ban on commercial messages in the forum? Would it be appropriate to allow a single message to announce a commercial product? Craig Steiner |
