#18090 - Do I understand RS-485 correctly ??
Hi all,

Kindly correct me.

1.for every physical link you have to calculate cable length according to bit rate and impedence.

2.RS-232 Uart is the actual communicator.

3. RS-485 only converts RS-232 for longer distances.

4. There is no protocol as such for RS-485. (like for RS232 or I2C)

5. For using RS-485 with 8052, we only have to code as usual for serial and use RS-485 interface/converter chips.

Thanks a lot.
Simon
