Hi,

Thank you for expalanations.

So does that mean there is no UART for RS-485 like RS-232.

You have to develop any and/or your own protocol for sending bits and use the interface only to carry the data for longer distances. (two wire half duplex or four wire full duplex)

Does that also mean:

If I have to connect my micro with your micro thru RS232 then it will communicate (at equal baud rate ).


But not necessarily my micro will communicate with yours thru pure RS485 (no conversion from RS232) because mine and your protocols may be different.
