#19949 - RE: what's the use of watch dog timer? |
"shall i know the usage of watch dog timer."
To save your butt. The purpose of the watchdog timer is to reset the uC when things go awry. "how it will be interfaced and activated with 8051." Depends on dog and whether it is internal or external. " with the help of this timer shall we use it as a Real Time Clock..!" NO, the watchdog has one purpose ONLY (see above). While it is theoritically possible to use a non-supervisory puppy as a timer, the purpose of a watchdog makes timing precision unimportant and thus to use it as a clock would lead to large errors (temperature drift etc).
